Doing a night balance with your child gives you as a parent a glimpse of their day from a spiritual perspective. Over the years it instills in them the tradition of reflecting upon their day in the presence of God.
Depending on the age of your children you may want to lengthen or shorten this night balance. You can always add questions that are relevant to your family situation or something you know is going on in your child's life. A night balance usually works best once children are settled and tucked in, but find the time that works best for your child and your family.
- Did I tell God that I love Him?
- Was I obedient to my parents today?
- Was I obedient to my teacher(s)?
- Was I a good sister or brother? Did I tease my siblings? Did I hurt them with words or actions? Did I include them? Did I show them that I love them?
- Did I help out around the house today?
- Was I a good friend today?
- Did I speak kind words or did I hurt someone with my words?
- Did I share with others today?
- Was there a time when I was greedy or selfish?
- Did I share Jesus’ love with anyone today?
- What was the worst thing in my day? What could I have done to make it better?
- What was the best thing in my day? Did I thank Jesus for it?
